We live on the edge of vast change. An older has died after fifty years of supreme power; now, it has revealed that it has failed. Even more, it has shown us that it was never sincere and that its ultimate goal is tyranny, or leadership that serves itself instead of the future of our people, our culture, and our civilization. That realization makes us turn toward those things again, rediscovering their value. Even more ominous, we are about 230 years into a system -- democracy -- that usually fails at the 250 year point. Since the French Revolution in 1789, the fortunes in the West have fallen, when we look at social order, but our bank accounts have risen thanks to our reckless use of technology. During that time, we have plundered the globe and left it strewn with human waste and litter, with its natural ecosystems weakened. During the same time we have lost much of our culture. A few weeks ago, Starbucks found itself enrolled in controversy because it turned down the request of two black men to use a restroom. They had been engaging in suspicious behavior and the management of a Manhattan location, wary of the problems of the homeless, called the law on them. This kicked off the usual cycle: media frenzy, apologies, and new policies which favor the bad over the good. As is the nature of human herds, bathroom access is now on our minds. A woman in Canada who was denied bathroom access had a somewhat unique but simian response: she flung feces at the employee who denied her bathroom access. On the Right, Jordan Peterson proves contentious. He came from the same generation of what we might call "Alt Lite Plus" figures who argue for expanded classical liberalism, meaning that we should tolerate non-Leftist opinion as well as politically correct ones. This proved enough to set the Regime on the defensive, since his approach mirrors the one they used to force their way into all the institutions of the West: he says that, if the Left are in favor of freedom and equality, they should be perfectly happy allowing conservative lives to matter, too. An effective gambit in an early stage of an argument, Peterson's theory basically says, "Hey, we all agree on equality.
